When the scholar Kibi no Makibi returned from China at the end of the Nara period, in 733, he ascended Hakuheizan in the Hiromine mountains and was granted faith in Gozu Tenno. When he reported this to the Emperor he was ordered to construct the main building of the Hiromine Shrine, which he did the following year. Today, both the main building and the hall of worship are important cultural properties and are among the largest such structures in the nation.
It is important cultural property of country with main hall, front shrine and is proud of size largest in the country now.
