The Red Brick Art Museum is located in a special historic site set in a spectacular landscape, looking up at the World Cultural Heritage Himeji Castle, which is likened to a white egret. Before WWII, this building was an army facility, and after the war it was occupied for many years by Himeji City Hall. In April 1983 it opened as an art museum. Inside are three exhibition spaces: permanent and revolving exhibits, and the collection gallery. You can also browse the art library for free. The garden is home to 13 sculptures and is familiar to Himeji’s citizens as a place to relax and refresh.
