An art museum near the World Cultural Heritage Himeji Castle. It opened in June 2008, with the aim of contributing to culture in the Harima region, and exhibits paintings and handicrafts by famous artists, collected over a long period. It holds about 800 pieces of porcelain and about 200 paintings. The second floor has the reception area, shop and lounge; the third floor is home to rotating exhibits (ceramics, paintings); the fourth floor holds large paintings, and the rental tearoom and salon are on the fifth floor. The permanent exhibition displays innovative creations by the Bizen pottery master Yuichi Kakurezaki, and elegant, delicate works portraying the four seasons by the Japanese artist Susumu Maki. Also displayed are refined paintings of landscapes, and flower-and-bird paintings drawn from nature by Koichi Nabatame, and works by Seiji Tōgō, known for his sweet female images.The revolving exhibits change every three months, when the ceramics and paintings on the third floor almost all change, resulting in a different ambiance each time.From the fifth floor salon you can enjoy looking out over Himeji Castle at your leisure. We are happy to guide visitors to the rooftop, a great spot for photos, upon request.This is a quiet, relaxed museum where you can pass some comfortable time. The exhibit rooms are equipped with sofas, so you can take your time to enjoy your favorite paintings at your ease. Please inquire about group discounts for groups of 20 or more.
