Located northwest of Himeji Castle, the museum was designed by architect Tadao Ando as a space that encircles the castle, and as a space that allows cultural dialogue.Stories relating to Himeji Castle and its history are presented in the “Himeji Castle History Gallery” in the permanent exhibition room of the north wing. The “Word Forest Exhibition Room” lets visitors enjoy access to encounters with life through the words left to us by authors. The south wing houses the Children’s Room, where children can enjoy picture books, and a café.
