The Water Museum outlines the history of how humans have obtained drinking water and presents the water-purification technology that supports our daily lives now. In this resource center, visitors can learn about the history and future of Himeji’s waterworks. The unique exterior looks like a container for water, in the shape of two connected cylinders. Inside, there are three exhibition rooms and a meeting room. The vaulted ceiling of exhibition room #1 is made of glass, with water running over it and light shining through the water, so visitors have the feeling of actually being underwater. Each exhibition room has quizzes, games and equipment for experiments, so that adults and children alike can enjoy learning about water and its connection to our daily lives. Tours of the water purification plant must be booked in advance. . . .
